A Walking Tour of the Newark Earthworks – April 15, 2023
Join a guided walking tour through portions of Newark and learn about the unseen portions of the Newark Earthworks on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Public access daylight to dusk. Staff and informational activities are available from noon to 4 p.m. In the event of severe weather with high winds and/or thunder and lightening, tours will be postponed or canceled. The best way to preserve the earthworks is by not walking on them. Thank you.

Join Ohio History Connection staff and our partners in historic preservation and education to learn about American Indian Connections to Ohio through the landscapes and material culture that they created!
Participants: Fort Ancient, Flint Ridge, Hopewell Culture National Historical Park, Heartland Earthworks Conservancy, the Great Circle Alliance.

Join the Heartland Earthworks Conservancy at their table to learn about ongoing archaeological geophysical research of earthworks in Licking and adjacent counties. |

Join World Heritage Archaeologist Brad Lepper on a tour of the Octagon Earthworks. |
4:00 – 5:00 | The Astronomy and Geometry of the Earthworks
Join physicist Robert Neinast as he leads you through the Octagon Earthwork highlighting key elements of the earthwork that connect it to the lunar cycle and a discussion of what makes this landscape special. |
