Amunet’s face to be revealed this Saturday!

DSCN8252This past Sundays Columbus Dispatch contained a wonderful article on the facial reconstruction of Amunet being done by Alexandra Victoria Elizabeth Keenan-Krilevich. We invite you to join us on September 7, 2013 for An Evening with Amunet>; a night of learning and celebration in honor of the 2,000-year-old mummy that has been in OHSs collection since the 1920s. Thanks to the 21st-century 3D imaging technology of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we will unveil the 3D reconstruction of Amunets face at this event. The night includes fascinating presentations by experts on mummies, the 3D digital imaging, and the 3D facial reconstruction process. As part of the celebration, guests will also get to learn about the ancient beer-making process and taste a beer inspired by Amunet, created by Barleys Smokehouse and Brewpub in collaboration with The Actual Brewing Company and North High Brewing. Register online at https://connect.ohiohistory.org/events/archaeology. $15 ($11/OHS Member) in advance by September 4. $20, ($15/OHS member) at the door. For more information, call 800.686.1541 or visit www.ohiohistory.org/mummy. The Ohio History Center is located at 800 E. 17th Ave., Columbus, OH 43211.
