History Fund grants support projects in three categories: Organizational Development, Programs & Collections, and Bricks & Mortar.
For Historic Preservation such projects can include, but are not limited to, public programs and training, archaeology and architectural/historical surveys, archaeological field work, nominations of properties to the National Register of Historic Places, preparation of historic preservation plans or feasibility studies, preservation-related mobile or online applications, walking tours, and events. Bricks and mortar projects include rehabilitation, restoration, protection, or acquisition of historic properties and archaeological sites listed in the National Register of Historic Places or designated by local ordinance.
Money granted by the Ohio History Fund comes from Ohioans in three streams:
“Ohio History Fund” tax check-off on the state income tax return (See “What is the Ohio History Fund?”)
Sales of Ohio History “mastodon” license plates. The plates are $30, with $20 going to the Ohio History Fund for grants.
Gifts to the Ohio History Connection designated by the donor specifically for the Ohio History Fund.
