This collection consists of 21 folders of black and white contact and glossy prints (8 x 10) spanning 1913 to 1950. The collection of over 400 photographs measures approximately three-fourths of a cubic foot. The photographs show Campbell, formerly known as East Youngstown and the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company operations there. A majority of the prints are from the negative collections of the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company and chronicle the different aspects of the Youngstown Sheet & Tube's Campbell Works. Subjects include plant buildings, safety equipment and steel-making processes. Of special note are the photographs relating to the 1913 Flood, the 1916 Strike, the 1937 "Little Steel" Strike, and Youngstown Sheet & Tube company housing.
Many of these photographs appear in Florence Galida's book: Fascinating History of the City of Campbell.
The Ohio Historical Society acquired this collection of photographs from Joseph Jevesok, Michael Jevesok, and Florence Galida of the Campbell Historical Society on December 27, 1978. The Campbell Historical Society made the prints from a collection of glass plate negatives received from the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company. The photographs appear to have already been numbered and labeled when donated to the Ohio Historical Society. Further processing and more specific labeling was done by the Ohio Historical Society when the collection was housed in Columbus. The collection's name when housed at the Ohio Historical Center was the "Florence Galida Photograph Collection." The collection was transferred to the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor in November of 1995 where final processing was done by Laurie Gemmill. The Ohio Historical Society owns the property rights to this collection.
