McKay on April 1, 1912 this company soon expanded, becoming an authority in the welding field. Ultimately, the Youngstown Welding and Engineering Company became designers, builders, and fabricators of standard and specialized steel equipment. The company quickly grew from its small 600 square foot building in 1912 to its 1940's location at 3700 Oakwood Avenue in Youngstown, Ohio which was 67,000 square feet in size. It was best known for its production of welded steel transformer boxes, corrosion resistant products and war-time material for the United States Navy during World War II. Youngstown Welding and Engineering earned many awards for its innovations and quality products during WWII.
