History helps us to realize our place in the world and our individual responsibility to our family, neighbors, community and world. It makes us think about the legacy we will leave. Are there favorite places, ideals, or programs that you value and that you want to survive for coming generations? Through your will, you have the power to make changes in the world around you. In fact, our values may not be represented in the world if we don’t make that investment.
You don’t have to be wealthy to leave a legacy that will change the lives of the people you touch. Often donors say they never dreamed they could make a sizeable gift before they began thinking about leaving a gift in their will.
Could investing in one of these programs for children be your legacy?
Would you like to make history come to life for students? Transport them through time to historic venues?
Ohio students (K-12) use our innovative long distance learning programs ranging from programs on ice age glaciers and prehistoric mounds to log cabins and ‘safe houses’ on the Underground Railroad. Video streaming, remote cameras, theatrical sets, and period costumes are among the techniques we use to help children learn. We also include topics to help Ohio students pass the required statewide achievement tests.
Would you like to be involved with students who are producing dramatic performances, imaginative exhibits, multimedia documentaries, and research papers on important historical events they choose?
National History Day engages students in creating, researching, analyzing and presenting—skills that will be of value to them throughout their lives.
Would you like to help Ohio fourth graders (in your neighborhood school or any another Ohio school) attend educational programs and field trips uniquely designed for them at Ohio Historical sites?
Many schools can no longer afford field trips that offer students an educational opportunity outside the classroom. Our “transportation scholarships” funded by individuals, corporations, and foundations provide funds for these students to enjoy history up close and personal.
These are just a few of the many programs at OHS that give students an opportunity to learn about the past and use that knowledge to transform the quality of their lives to create a better future.
By remembering the Ohio Historical Society in your will you can insure that your values will influence others after you are gone. Leaving a percentage (or specific dollar amount) of your estate to fund a favorite program at OHS is easy to do. We would like to help you accomplish that.
