Strategic Planning Program
- Planning begins with identifying strategic issues, such as the need for a capital campaign, hiring staff, dealing with collection issues, and board relations.
- Using SWOT methods (identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats), this program helps a historical organization identify strategic issues, which become the core of a planning document.
- Over a six month time period, OHS staff serves as a facilitator to help you identify your strategic issues and define objectives to deal with them.
- The program will result in a structured report from which you can lay out a clear plan to help your organization chart a future.
Needs Assessment Program
- The Needs Assessment Program brings a historical agency consultant to your historical society or history museum to spend a day evaluating the organization's strengths and weaknesses.
- The Needs Assessment Program is an inexpensive way to help a historical organization focus on a few areas that may need attention.
- The Needs Assessment Program consultant visits with your board of trustees to discuss administration, financial, collection, and educational needs.
- The Needs Assessment Program provides your organization with a written document that states strengths and weaknesses, a document that your board and volunteers can refer back to and use as they plan for the future.
