Are you and your organization devoted to collecting, preserving, or interpreting the history of your community? Would you like to connect with a statewide network of other local history professionals and volunteers to share ideas, develop new skills, and promote the interests of history organizations in Ohio? The Ohio Local History Alliance (Alliance), is for you!
Organized in 1960 under sponsorship of the Ohio Historical Society, the Ohio Local History Alliance is composed of local historical societies, historic preservation groups, history museums, archives, libraries, genealogical societies, and local historians throughout the state involved in collecting, preserving, and interpreting Ohio’s history.
The Ohio Local History Alliance coordinates programs and opportunities that help local historians...
...share ideas.
...gain skills.
...preserve and present the history of Ohio’s communities.
...promote local history through a statewide network.
The Ohio Historical Society / Ohio Local History Alliance Partnership
Since its founding, the Ohio Local History Alliance has worked closely with the Ohio Historical Society. Though separate organizations, we share a common goal: to encourage preservation and presentation of Ohio’s heritage. We are linked by this common purpose and by the belief that through collaboration we can be more effective in meeting our shared goals.
The staff of the Ohio Historical Society’s Local History Office provides administrative support and resources for all Ohio Local History Alliance programs. This mutually beneficial relationship is just one example of how cooperation yields good things for Ohio’s history and heritage community. Joining the Ohio Local History Alliance is another example.
You and your organization can help make history happen by joining the Ohio Local History Alliance today!
