OAHSM's Lending Library, along with OAHSM's Local History Notebooks series, makes available hundreds of publications on the "how to" and "why" of operating a local historical society and doing local history.

How to borrow from the Lending Library
To order an item from the Lending Library, e-mail your request to mailto:oahsm@ohiohistory.org or call the Ohio Historical Society’s Local History Office at (614) 297-2340 or toll-free at (800) 858-6878. You can also send requests to the address above.
In your request, make sure to include these items:
- Call number or leaflet number *
- Title *
- Author (if given)
- Year of publication
Also include your
- Name *
- Organization (if any) *
- Mailing address, City, State, Zip *
- Phone number *
- E-mail address
- Web site URL (if any)
- OAHSM membership number
* Requests missing this information will not be fulfilled.
Fees
Members of OAHSM can borrow items free of charge. Non-members of OAHSM can borrow items from the library for a fee of $5.00. This fee is accessed each time a non-member uses the library. Click here to find out how you can become a member of OAHSM.
How many items can I borrow at one time?
How long can I keep them?
No more than three items can be borrowed from the Lending Library by a patron at a time. The loan period is one month.
How do I get the materials?
Once requested, library materials are sent via mail to the borrower free of charge. Members and non-members alike pay the cost of postage to return publications to the Ohio Historical Society’s Local History Office, the location OAHSM’s Lending Library.
