The Ohio Historic Preservation Office has released the annual CLG grant funding announcement and application with associated instructions for federal fiscal year 2012. The information is being made available early to correspond with the OHPO's workshop series
Historic Preservation for Local Governments.
The last workshop of the series is scheduled in Burton, Ohio on Tuesday, November 1.
CLG Grants will be awarded on a 60:40 basis; that is, up to 60% of the total project cost can be paid by the CLG grant, 40% funded with local match. Local match can be any combination of cash, in-kind or volunteer time, or donated materials. CDBG funds are an allowable match. The Ohio Historic Preservation Office estimates that approximately $92,000 will be available. The project period will be May 1, 2012 - September 30, 2013.
The application deadline is March 1, 2012. You have 5 months to consider projects possiblities, discuss local preservation needs and put together the application. OHPO staff are available to discuss proposed projects, answer questions, and/or review draft applications.

For registration projects: If seeking CLG funds to designate properties to the National Register of Historic Places, the CLG Registration Questionnaire must be completed and submitted to the Ohio Historic Preservation Office by February 9, 2012, three weeks prior to the CLG grant application deadline of March 1, 2012.

For example, survey projects must comply with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Identification and Evaluation, planning projects must comply with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Planning,
development projects with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation, etc.
