The Ohio Historical Society's Online Finding Aids
Finding aids are descriptive tools that lead users to the materials in archival collections.
In the same way that a table of contents assists the reader in locating information in a book,
finding aids work as a tool for researchers to use and narrow their search to a specific box or
section of a collection. Finding aids contain such information as collection name and number,
its size, its provenance, the owners of property and copy rights, access restrictions, preferred
citation, background information on the creator(s), an overview of the collection and a list of
the contents of individual boxes.
The Ohio Historical Society's Online Finding Aids allows you to search the complete text of
available finding aids to collections found in the Archives Library. To physically access one of
the collections listed below, please visit the reading room of the Archives/Library at
the Ohio Historical Center or the reading room of the Youngstown Historical Center.
