Blast from the Past Summer Camps

Welcome to Blast from the Past, the Ohio Historical Society’s summer camp program that provides kids with the ultimate summer adventure—a trip through time!

Blast from the Past camps take place from July 8 through August 2 at the Ohio History Center and Ohio Village. Each camp is one week long and takes place Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Programs are geared for kids’ age 6-11.

Discounts are available for multiple camp registrations and for OHS members. Snacks are provided each day; campers bring their own non-perishable lunch and drink. Lunches should be in a bag or box labeled with the camper’s name. Vending machines and refrigerators will not be available to campers.

A Day in the Life…1860

The Ohio Village comes to life as campers experience a day in the life of a child from the 1860s. Campers will enjoy a week of work and play in the Ohio Village as they use a quill pen and ink to make a copy book, make paper to write on, do chores, play games and even go to school in a one-room school house.

Fee: $180/ $150 OHS Members

Eager Readers

This summer camp is a great way to introduce younger children to history. Each day the campers will read a new children’s book, and then will learn more about history by playing in the Ohio Village, exploring the Ohio History Center, and with songs, crafts and games.  This camp brings books, and history, to life!

Fee: $180/ $150 OHS Members

A Day in the Life…1860 - FULL

The Ohio Village comes to life as campers experience a day in the life of a child from the 1860s. Campers will enjoy a week of work and play in the Ohio Village as they use a quill pen and ink to make a copy book, make paper to write on, do chores, play games and even go to school in a one-room school house. Campers will also have a chance to try their hands at historic trades, like carpentry, tin punching, and candle making.

Fee: $180/ $150 OHS Members

Session 2- Ohio History Center

Monday-Friday July 15-19

 

Invent Ohio

Do you know where the first airplane, barbed wire, disposable diapers and the self-walking golf ball were invented?  They were all invented right here in Ohio!  Join us as we explore the wonderful, and sometimes wacky, world of Ohio inventions.  Everyday campers will learn about a new Ohio invention and at the end of the week, campers will present their own inventions to the “Ohio Village Patent Office.”

Fee: $180/ $150 OHS Members
