Ohio Village is designed to recreate the appearance of a typical county-seat town in Ohio during the mid 19th century, about the time of the Civil War. Adjacent to the Ohio Historical Center in Columbus, this location remains open as it has for nearly 20 years, to school groups, for private events, and special public events.

The Pleasure of the Cup: Drinks of the 19th Century

Sample several quirky and "tasteful" concoctions and learn the lore of some 19th-century beverages at select Ohio Village buildings. Complete your rounds at the American House Hotel for refreshments and conviviality with humor and tavern songs. Must be 21 years of age. Dickens of a Christmas
December 12-13, 19-20 and 21 2008

Step into the world of Charles Dickens as Ohio Village revisits the Victorian Christmas made famous in his stories. From plum pudding to that pretty little German toy, the Christmas tree, Dickens created a festive and enduring vision of Christmas. Join us in the village as the spirit of Dickens comes to life through interactions with characters from his writings, cooking demonstrations, hands-on crafts, decorations, caroling, readings by candlelight, street vendors, and many more Victorian holiday traditions. Dickens of a Dinner

Dickens of a Mystery

Did you ever wonder what happened to Scrooge after his Christmas morning reformation? You are in for a grand surprise in this production of "Dickens of a Mystery." Christmas Brunch at Ohio Village

Holiday revelers are invited to partake in a Sunday afternoon of food and merriment at Ohio Village. Start your experience at the American House Hotel with a splendid selection of brunch menu items. While dining you will be paid a visit by the esteemed author Charles Dickens and be entertained by the Ohio Village Singers as they perform traditional carols. We’re pleased to report that we have increased public events in the Ohio Village. In mid-2006, we added a four-season tent, the Presidents Pavilion, which can accommodate up to 450 people, significantly increasing our capacity for public and private indoor events.
The Ohio Village Muffins and the Lady Diamonds,
19th-century baseball teams, are fielded by Ohio Historical Society volunteers.
The Ohio Village Muffins, founded in 1981, have been featured in Sports
Illustrated and the Wall Street Journal, and on National
Public Radio and ABC-TV's Good Morning America. Home
games begin in May and continue into September.

Location
Ohio Village is located just off of I-71 on 17th Avenue (exit 111) about four miles north of downtown Columbus in Franklin County. After exiting I-71, take the first right off of 17th Avenue, make a slight right almost immediately into the Ohio Historical Society parking lot and continue along the perimeter road to the northside of the Ohio Historical Center where the Ohio Village is located. Please note that online directions using the Ohio Historical Society's address below will take you to the back of the Ohio Historical Center and Ohio Village. There are no public entrances to either facility from Velma Avenue.
