Cared for by heritage garden volunteers, the Ohio Village gardens are filled with different types of plants typical of Civil War Ohio. A guided tour will remind gardens of a time long ago. Then dine in a historic setting at the American House Hotel, also located in the Village.

See nationally-known Seurat's "Sunday Afternoon" painting sculpted in topiary. The gardens include a visitor center and gift shop.

Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Garden

Located three miles east of downtown. this horticultural landmark houses four climates, bonsai and orchid collections, a gift shop, cafe, seasonal shows and a Victorian palm house.

Overnight in Columbus. Drive to Mansfield next morning.

Kingwood Center & Gardens

Kingwood is the 47-acre former estate of Charles K. King. The grounds are renowned for both their historic significance and the brilliant floral displays of the new gardens. The French Provincial mansion contains many rooms decorated with Mr. King’s original furnishings and one of Ohio’s outstanding horticultural libraries. An elegant greenhouse features year-round displays and plant sales. The extensive grounds offer opportunities for hiking and quiet isolation.

This village was founded in 1817 by a group of German Separatists. It became one of the most interesting experiments in communal living in the United States These settlers called their community Zoar, meaning “a sanctuary from evil.” With their communal living, the Zoarites placed great value in their garden. In the center of this village, today’s gardeners will find the beautiful Zoar garden and historic greenhouse. You wan't want to miss a tour of the village after visiting the gardens.
