The flint from this area was especially prized by the Hopewell Culture for its quality and beauty, and was a valuable trade item for many prehistoric peoples. Take a guided tour of the museum exhibits and learn how a piece of flint becomes an arrowhead. Also experience throwing a spear with an atlatl, used by the prehistoric Indians for hunting.

Learn how Tecumseh unified various Indian tribes to fight against the American invasion of the Ohio Valley. With a musical score by the London Symphony Orchestra, this is an unforgettable experience. Tecumseh was part of the national Local Legacies Project, created by the Library of Congress for its bicentennial celebration in 2000.

Adena is the home of Thomas Worthington, one of Ohio's first U.S. Senators and the Buckeye state's sixth governor. Learn about the state's early history and Worthington's meetings with Blue Jacket and Tecumseh. The historic mansion was the recipient of significant renovation in 2003. Period gardens and a new museum and interpretative center showcase life during Ohio's early frontier.

Mound City contains 23 mounds enclosed by an earthen wall. The incredible 13-acre site was constructed 2,000 years ago by the prehistoric Hopewell people and was used for burials and ceremonies. View the video and exhibit area, followed by a guided tour with a park ranger.
Serpent Mound (OHS)

Serpent Mound is the largest and finest serpent effigy mound in the United States. The mound, constructed by the Fort Ancient people, is nearly a quarter-mile long and represents an uncoiling snake. Take a guided tour to learn about the mysteries of this mound.
