STOKES TO WORTHINGTON Chillicothe Feby 22d. 1812 Sir, I have at length been able to procure from Andersons office the plats and cer- tificates for two surveys - on the Scioto river which I will trouble you to have the patents issued as soon after the receipt of those papers as can be effected - I wish the patents issued in my own personal name - We have had a great number of Earthquakes in this place. the credulous and superstitious think that the time is nearly arrived when the last trup will sound - Supposing that you have not in this been acquainted with the return of the tempory seat of government to this place I have thought proper to inform you of the same - the vote in the Senate, ayes 13. Nays 11 - in the Lower house eyes 27. nays 19.-the permanent seat to be fixed on the bank opposite Franklington yours with respect John R. Stokes Genl Worthington Esqr. 60 |
