JOHN POLLOCK TO WORTHINGTON Zanesville January 14th 1812 Dr Sir We have had a pleasant session as yet Gennerally speaking the Repeal of the act providing for the commissioning certain officers created some warmth as that law was predicated on what was called the sweeping Resolution -- on which the people have been much devided of Corse has been a Disagreeable question in the Legislature -- from all probability the house tax will be taken off -- I think the permenent seat of govern- ment will be set at rest this session somewhare on the scioto River perhaps not far from the place Reported by the Commissioners -- and the tempory seat moved from this place -- we are trying to lay the state into six congrational destricts but cant say at present wheather it can be affected or not as thare is a nomber in favour of a generral ticket -- thare is a young [illeg.] of this place is wishing to have an appoint in the armey as Leutenant and has sent on a Recommendation I told him I would mention his name -- and this I have don as Complying with my word -- my acquaintance is but small of Corse cant say much on the subject I am in good health and with Respec Remain your frend -- John Pollock Thos Weatherington Esqr - pleas to wright me when Convenient and give me aney information you have Respecting my Uncle oliver pollack and family 41 |
