P. E. THOMAS TO WORTHINGTON Balto 12 Mo 18 1811 Dear friend I have thy esteemed favour of the 14th Inst. On my return home from Annapolis I found that the proofs which had been collected of the existence of the Kidnapping of Negroes in these middle states had been forwarded on to A. McKim, by E. Taylor I find it was understood here that the committee of Commerce & Manufactures would report a Bill before the Senate -I accordingly immediately wrote to A McKim & request to him to hand over to thee, all the documents & proofs as soon as they should have been examine by the Committee of Corn. & Manufacture in his reply to my letter he says he will do th Thy little daughters come frequently to see us, they appear to have become intire: satisfied and are great favorites of the Mistress Should A McKim be prevented by any circumstance from handing over to thee the proofs he holds, our mutual friend Peter Little can obtain them from him & hand them to thee - I need not repeat to thee, that the obtaining a relief to the poor suffering Blacks, is a subject very near to our hearts we have believed ourselves called upon by the obligations of duty to step forward on their behalf at the present time Should any thing transpire at Washington relative to the probability of a resto- ration of commerce, or concerning the granting permission to get home bone fide American property in England (which it would be property to communicate) I shall be obliged to thee for a line In haste I am very sincerely Your real fd.
