Dear Sir

I recd your favor a few days since - & find, I am extremely glad, to learn, that the principles advocated by the democrats of Ohio, relative to the rights of the judiciary, are current among many great men of our nation. I am rejoiced, to hear, that those, vho have been stigmatized, as fools, by some of our great-little men here -- are acknowledged, abroad, as advocationg correct principles. At these things, I an rejoiced -- Not, that, if it were otherwise, my opinioh, on this subject, would be changed -- Whether in the majority or minority on this point, is all the same to me -- My sentiments are fixed; and they never will be shaken.

After a session of fifty nine days, the legislature adjourned the 30th ultimo.

Generally speaking, things have gone on well. Bruch and Crieghton have been foiled in every thing. Brush asked leave to bring in a bill, to repeal a law, bottomed on, what is called, "the sweeping resolution" --Leave was refused- Yeas 23 - Nays 24. Previously, he had boasted, in a public company, that a majority of the House of Representatives, had applied to him, to bring forward a resolution, rescinding that, passed, last winter! However, as fortune would have it, -- his majority was, what, we democrats, in our own plain language, call, a minority.

The same thing was tried in Senate, at the same time, but, in a different manner. Yet, all would not do -- and the whole blame was laid on the shoulders of the sons of old Saint Tammany. By the way, the titular Saint of America, has gain- ed many followers this winter. It is a common saying here, among the feds & quids that, there is "too much Tammany", in the Legislature -- The last day of the session a resolution was adopted, approving the measures of the General Government. In Senate, Mr. Tod, only voted against it.

Instead of being an injury to the cause, the Election of Creighton & Brush has been of service to it. The very idea, that wolves were abroad, has driven the sheep into the fold; -- concentrated their strength; and ensured their safety.

I am extremely anxious, to hear, what Congress are doing in conclave. I hope the injunction of secrecy will soon be removed.
