In consequence of the deplorable news we have received of the surrender of the army under command of Genl Hull, the people of Athens County have this day assemblyed togather for the purpose of concerting measures for the aid of the forces now under your command at Urbana We the undersigned have been appointed to raise a company of volunteer to be subject to your orders We have accordingly proceeded to form the company and judging from the spirit of patriotism which seems to pervade the breasts of the people w e have no doubt of its completion in a short time there fore in order to accelerate our purpose we the committee now offer you the services of a company of volunteers which we hope you will accept and order out as soon necessity may require and to such place as your Excellency may think proper
