OSL PETITION TO MEIGS To his Excellency the Governor of Ohio. The petition of the undersigned citizens of Montgomery County & State of Ohio, on the upper branches of Wolf Creek respectfully represents that owing to the late war-like disposition of the Indians, the inhabitants of the North West of us have almost universally fled from danger to the older settlements by which means we are entirely a frontier in a N.W. direction and feel ourselves & families much exposed to the havoc & depredations of those inhuman & infeeling savages; we therefore pray your Excellency to grant us your aid & protection by stationing fifty or sixty men at the house of Jacob Kerns on Wolf creek, till the time appear more peacable.
