27 I have communicated with Sir James Yeo on the same subject & if he from the exigencies of the Service on the Lake Ontario will not admit of his sending many Seamen, even fifty would be of the greatest service for the present but it will require at least from 250 to 300 Seamen to render His Majesty's Squadron perfectly effective I have the Honor to be Your Excellency's Most Obedient and Humble Servant (Signed) R.H.B. To BARCLAY TO HALL (11) H.M. Ship Queen Charlotte July 21st 1813 Sir The Moment the Mary Transport arrives I have to desire that you will cause every assistance in your power to unload and again put her in ballast trim that she may immediately return to this place. But as circumstances may conspire to render it necessary for me to withdraw His Majestys force from off Presque Isle and return to Amherst- burg in a short time. If the Mary cannot leave Amherstburg on the 26th. and then with a fair Wind she must remain at the Islands till I send for her. I beg that every exertion may be used on your part to render the Detroit in as forward a state as possible to receive her Guns and Stores should they be sent up in time to enable me to bring them with me to Amherstburg Mr. Bell is to do nothing else until the Detroit is perfectly out of his hands I am Sir Your Obedt. Servant (Signed) R.H.B. To |
