ARMSTRONG TO HARRISON Sir, I have received the two letters you did me the honor to write to me on the 27th & 28th Ult. In a former letter you have stated that a number of boats were building under your direction. I send you the enclosed extract from a letter written by Major Jessup of the l9th. Regt. now at Cleveland. If the number he has contracted for he more than will be wanted (calculating those you are building at other points) you will be pleased to give him that information, in time to enable him to lessen the numbers. Some portion of your last requisition upon the Ohio militia ought to be placed at those points on the southern shore of the lake, which will be most likely to invite the attacks of the enemy. I am sir, very respectfully Your obedient servt. John Armstrong War Dept. 8 April 1813 Major Gen. Harrison. 91 |
