Sir

I have great Satisfaction in communicating the enclosed copy of a letter from Lieut. Colo Campbell who Commanded the detachment which was sent to distroy the Mississiniway Towns Captn Hite who brought it informs me that one of that Colo. Campbell had learnt from one of the prisoners that Tecumseh was on the Wabash not more than 18 miles below our Troops with 600 warriors If this should be the case I entertain some appre- hension. for the safety of our detachment on its return encumbered as it is with wounded & prisoners -- eighty [illeg.] marched from Greenville on the 20th Inst to reinforce Colo Campbell & his original Command merits the approbation he bestows upon it -- the Captain Pierce who is killed Commanded a troop of Dragoons from this state -- Lieut. Walby belonged to the troop of 12 Months Dragoons from Pensylvania -- & Captn Notter of the Kenty Dragoons who distinguished himself is my aid de camp whom I permitted at his desire to head his troop. upon this Command ---- I have further the satisfaction to inform you sir that I have ascertained that the British & Indians were not able to take off the Corn from the Rapids of Miami -- I assure you that they shall not have an other opportunity of removing it
