Sir
The Laws of the United States, and
my Appointments within this Territory
demand that I should ask of your Excellency
to cause to be errected and secured, Ellison
(alias Allison) Williams, and Eli Piper, Fu-
gitives from the Justice of this Government,
and said to be now at large in the State
over which your Excellency presides -
And, that notice of their Arrest be trans-
mitted unto me by the first convenient
Opportunity, or that they be delivered over
to Mr Owsley, the Agent duly authorised
to receive them -
That this my Application may be
sufficiently formal I enclose unto your
Excellency Copies of the Indictments
upon which I found my Demand --
and certify the same to be authentic -
I enclose also to your Excellency
(which I wish to be returned unto me)
a Letter from the Clerk of Randolph Coun-
ty, containing such Information of the
residence of Williams and Piper as may
