I have found it necessary to order out a strong militia Guard which has been op- posed by Force and menaces, And I am sor- ry to add that amongst the Authors and pro- moters of the Outrages complained of we suspect Characters whom from their stan- ding in Society and dependence upon civil Obligation we should expect better Conduct - In this number I am bound in Duty to mention to you the names of Greer, Finley and Smith Store keepers, a Doctor Morrel, Mr Leture and Lawyer Smith - Whether it will be proved that those
Men have been perpetrators of all the
Outrages which have been committed
I know not, but that their Example
has given Countenance thereto, there
can be no Doubt. I have not time to
be more particular as Mr Goudy who
bears this Letter is in waiting therefor The Secretary missing the Opportunity expected for the foregoing Letter despatched it by Express upon the Day of its Date. |
