of the County of Washington to erect & keep a Ferry over the Ohio River from the Plantation where he now lives to the Virginia Side of said River, & to ask demand recover & receive of every Person who he may transport over said Ferry, a reasonable Compensation for the Service -- Hereby also requiring him to pro- vide good & sufficient Boats or Flats for the Purpose, & to give due Attendance to the same according to right & common Usage, And to govern himself in the Pre- mises by such Laws as may hereafter be adopted for the Regulation of Ferries -- so soon as such Laws shall be published in the Territory. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and caused the Seal of the Territory to be affixed. Dated at Marietta this 28th. Day of December A.D. 1789 -- & of the Independence of the United States of America the fourteenth Signed
