an Ensign in the first Regiment of Militia of
the County aforesaid -- His Excellency was also
pleased to accept the Resignation of Charles
Knowles a Captain in said Regiment.
The Civil & Military Officers were commissioned
accordingly, agreeably to the Forms inserted Pages 16th.
& 17th. of this Vol: & bearing this Date.

come.
Greeting.
Whereas it has been represented to
me that it is necessary for the Convenience of the
Inhabitants of the County of Washington that a
Ferry should be established over the River Ohio nearly
opposite Wheeling in the State of Virginia -
And Mr Absolam Martin having requested Per-
mission to erect & keep said Ferry - Now --
Know Ye, that having duly considered of the said
Representation & Request, I have thought proper
I have thought proper to grant the same --- And
by these Presents do empower the said Absolam Martin
