This is a report on six months of activities
of the Ohio Historical Records Advisory Board
as funded by an administrative support grant
of $10,000. During this period the board met
on 13 June at Adena and on 30 October at the
Ohio Historical Center at Columbus. It planned
for and convened a bicentennial conference,
entitled The Future of Our Past: Ohio's Historical
Records at 200 Years, held on 26 September
2003. This event provided critical input for
the formulation of a new records plan, The
Ohio 2010 Plan.
Currently, there are two vacant positions
on the Board and two expired terms. We are
working to make the terms of all board members
current and expect results soon.
During this period the board discussed and
monitored the ongoing implementation of The
Ohio 2003 Plan: A Statement of Priorities
and Preferred Approaches for Historical Records
Programs in Ohio, which has been in effect
since March 1995. On a variety of fronts significant
progress has been made and will continue during
the g rant period. In particular Ohio Memory,
http://www.ohiomemory.org/ , phase two was
completed. In July 2003, the American Association
for State and Local History honored Ohio Memory
with its Award of Merit, the most prestigious
recognition for achievement in the preservation
and interpretation of local, state, and regional
history. For more information, please see

For additional details on board activities
please see the attached appendices.
On behalf of the board, I would like to thank
the National Historical Publications and Records
Commission and its staff for their encouragement
and support.
Respectfully submitted,
George Parkinson
Acting Coordinator
