Benjamin Hanby was a man of many titles including minister, abolitionist, student, and teacher. But we primarily know him as a musician and composer.
The Harriet Beecher Stowe House is operated as an historical and cultural site, focusing on Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of Uncle Tom's Cabin.
One of the highlights at the museum is an exhibit on Zane Grey, Father of the Adult Western. Born in Zanesville in 1872, Grey wrote more than 80 books. Also featured at the museum is the ceramic heritage of the area. Commercial art pottery and decorative tile produced by the district’s most significant potteries, including Weller, Owens, Cambridge and Roseville are on display.
Paul Laurence Dunbar is one of America’s greatest poets and he spent almost his entire life in Ohio. He published hundreds of poems, as well as novels, short stories, and song lyrics.
