Three Epic Days, The Battle of Gettysburg
(Download the brochure and reservation form here)
The Ohio Historical Society invites you to join us this summer as we continue commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War and the importance of Ohio and Ohioans during this era of American history. This three-day tour includes visits to the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg, PA, Gettysburg Visitors Center, dinner with Abraham Lincoln and a guided tour of the battlefield. As always, Travels Through Time tours are escorted by knowledgeable OHS staff to make your journey entertaining and fun.
Day One
We begin our trip with a stop at the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg, PA. This is the only museum in the United States that portrays the entire story of the American Civil War. Then, we will enjoy dinner at Hickory Bridge Farm featuring country dining. The evening concludes with a visit from Abraham Lincoln.
Day Two
Our “tour day:” We begin with a stop at the Gettysburg Visitors Center where we will explore the exhibits in the museum and the famous cyclorama painting of the battle. Then, a licensed battlefield guide will lead our tour through the three day battle with fascinating stories of the soldiers who fought in and around the town for three days. After, you can explore historic downtown Gettysburg on your own—from the quaint pubs to antique shops.
Day Three
On our last day in Gettysburg, we will visit the National Cemetery where you can see the spot where Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address, plus the graves of hundreds of Ohioans who fought and died there. We conclude our tour with a visit to the Flight 93 Memorial Site in Shanksville, PA.
