The quilt collection includes nearly 350 quilts dating from 1750 to 1991 with the majority of them dating prior to 1940. The collection has representative quilts in almost every style and technique of quilt making – pieced, appliquéd, whole-cloth; hand and machine done; autograph/album, raffle, crazy, red-work; compass, basket, figural, wedding ring, patches, etc. This collection documents everyday living and showcases traditional quilting techniques and styles. The collection is strong in red and green quilts of the early to mid-1800s. It has a good sample of crazy quilts from the late 1800s. Approximately 80% of the quilts have some type of Ohio documentation.
