The Ohio Historical Society Archives/Library
is, by law, the archives for the State of Ohio. As such, we collect, preserve,
and make available to the public, documents pertaining to the operation
of state and local governments.
Death Certificate
Index, 1913 - 1937
Search the death certificate index for persons that
died in Ohio (1913 - 1937). Helpful for determining date
of death and death certificate number, the researcher
can later obtain a copy of the certificate
itself (which holds further information).
Online Collection Catalog (OCC) The
Ohio Historical Society's Online Collection Catalog allows you to
search the records of more than 230,000 items in the Society's library,
newspaper, manuscript, audiovisual, state archives, history, natural
history, and archaeology collections.

Ohio newspaper titles(not the content)
held by the Archives/Library, the largest collection
of Ohio's newspapers in existence. Microfilmed
newspapers are available for use at the A/L
Research Room or through interlibrary
loan. Some are available for purchase
by the roll.
African-American Experience in Ohio: 1850-1920
This sample of digitized primary materials illuminates specific moments
in Ohio's history and provides an overview of the experiences of African
Americans in Ohio. This project was made possible by the generous support
of the Library of Congress and Ameritech.
Fight for the Colors (the
Ohio Battle Flag Collection)
The Fight for the Colors exhibit provides online access to one of the
Ohio Historical Society's most significant and popular Ohio Historical
Society collections, the Ohio Battle Flag Collection. Ohio soldiers carried
the flags, known as colors, in the Mexican War, Civil War, Spanish American
War, World War I and World War II. There are more than five hundred flags
in the collection, the majority of which are from the Civil War.

Ohio History Online
This digital archive of the society's scholarly journal contains more
than 100 years of historical research concerning Ohio and the middle west.
Browsers can page through individual issues or look up specific topics using
either the index or full-text search tool.
The archive includes all text and illustrations published in the journal from 1887 to 2000.

Search images from the Ohio Historical Society's collections online in
our image database, OhioPix.
The database is searchable by subject, title, photographer and dates. Curators have
selected highlights from our photograph collections and created "galleries" to illustrate
specific topics or themes.
