Instead of a present, give the gift of your time this Christmas

(FREMONT, Ohio) — Give the special people in your life a gift no one else can give - your time.

The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center’s Dillon House Christmas SpecialTeas provide an opportunity for gift givers not only to treat friends and family to a unique afternoon experience, but also to share the joy of the season with them. The original interiors of the 1873 Dillon House are the setting for holiday-themed teas modeled after those popular during the 19th century. The menu of tea sandwiches, sweets, and hot tea is authentic to the time period, as is the tableside entertainment.

Dillon House Christmas SpecialTeas take place 1-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, December 13 and 14 and are sponsored by Solar Solutions by PSI. Vocalist Joan Eckermann entertains with a selection of Christmas carols. Pianist Tom Hoffert accompanies her on the Dillon House’s rare square Steinway piano. To ensure an intimate atmosphere, seating is limited to 45 at each tea. Reservations and pre-payment are required. Cost is $25/adult and $14/children. Call now to reserve your spot.

Charles and Ann Dillon were the first neighbors of President and Lucy Hayes. Mrs. Dillon was the daughter of the President’s first law partner, Ralph P. Buckland. The Dillons styled their elegant home in a manner similar to the Hayes mansion. Butternut woodwork is abundant, and the entranceway features a grand stairway and shimmering beveled glass window. The home remained in the family until the Hayes Presidential Center purchased it in 1962.

The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center is located at the corner of Hayes and Buckland avenues. The facility is affiliated with the Ohio Historical Society. For more information call 419-332-2081 (in Fremont) or 800-998-PRES (out of town). The Hayes Presidential Center website www.rbhayes.org also has updates concerning events.
