OHIO HISTORICAL SOCIETY PREMIERS NEW MUSEUM MYSTERY NOV. 7
Success of Dickens of a Mystery prompts new dinner theatre offering in the museum
(COLUMBUS, OH) - Guests who have enjoyed Dickens of a Mystery dinner theatre performances the past four years have a new entertaining evening to look forward to November 7 in the Ohio Historical Center. Loosely based upon the popular mysteries of the 1930s and 40, Mayhem and Mystery in the Museum combines eccentric characters, a dinner buffet, audience participation and a little history mixed in to create a fun-filled evening that ends with a surprise.
The scenario centers around the fictitious necklace of the Mummy Princess. The Chief Curator, Ima Ghetinstuf will unveil the necklace after dinner. Recently discovered in a long-forgotten box, the necklace is said to have mysterious powers. Also in attendance for the evening are museum supporters Madam Alotta Doe and Maximillion Buchs, as well as the curator’s secretary, Miss Fanny Funbottom and museum custodian Dusty Ruggs. Each guest will receive an identity of their own to assume for the evening and become a part of the story as they attempt to separate truth from fiction and solve the mystery. The entire museum becomes the stage as guests search for clues and questions the characters and each other.
The evening begins with a social hour at 6 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner and concludes with the unveiling of the necklace and the ensuing mystery. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 800.686.6124. Admission: $60/adult; $50/ Ohio Historical Society member. Parking is $4 and free for members.
Mayhem and Mystery in the Museum is presented by the Ohio Historical Society in response to the popularity of Dickens of a Mystery dinner theatre, now in its fifth year at Ohio Village. The annual dinner theatre, a part of December’s Dickens of a Christmas in Ohio Village has been performed for hundreds of guests at the annual December shows and year round for private groups.
The Ohio Historical Center, located at I-71 and 17th Avenue in Columbus, is one of 58 historic sites and museums operated by the Ohio Historical Society, a nonprofit organization that serves as the state’s partner in preserving and interpreting Ohio’s history, natural history and archaeology.
