OHS Museum Features Two Events Oct. 18
Celebrating National Road Experience

(NORWICH, Ohio) – Enjoy a fine autumn day of fun as the Ohio Historical Society sponsors a road rally and a cruise-in to celebrate the heritage of the nation’s first road. Both events take place Oct. 18 at the National Road/Zane Grey Museum, 8850 East Pike St., Norwich.

The second annual “Wandering along the National Road Road Rally” will be a “gimmick” road rally. A good way to introduce novices to the sport of rallying, our gimmick rally will test your skill at finding both natural and man-made points of interest. Teams must search for answers to questions, which may provide clues to where the rally route goes, and might be answers to questions about signs and buildings on the route. A team consists of at the least a driver and a navigator. Passengers are welcome.

Road rally participants will travel along scenic roads in Muskingum and Guernsey counties just as the tree are at their peak of fall color. The route will be around 60-miles long and take about 2-3 hours to complete. Registrations begin at 11:30 a.m., which is one hour before the rally’s staggered start. The Friends of the Museum will have a concession stand with sandwiches and beverages for those wanting food.

The idea is to take travelers off the beaten path and introduce them to the beauty and history of the area. The rally begins and ends at the National Road/Zane Grey Museum. In order to win a team will need to have all answers correctly completed and have them turned in by the final deadline time 3:30 p.m.

Registration is $35/car which includes rally materials and admission to the museum for all in the vehicles. Preregistration is encouraged. Information and applications are available from the National Road/Zane Grey Museum, call 740-872-3143 or 800-752-2602.

Got a car you want to show off? Join us for the first annual “National Road Cruise-in.” It’s a great opportunity to display your vehicle and enjoy food, music and a chance for a prize. Registration 1-2 p.m. Cruise–in: 2 – 4 p.m. Registration is $5 (not including museum admission). For more information, call 740-872-3143 or 800-752-2602.

The National Road/Zane Grey Museum is one of 58 sites administered by the Ohio Historical Society, a nonprofit organization that serves as the state’s partner in preserving and interpreting Ohio’s history, natural history and archaeology. For more information, visit www.ohiohistory.org.
