History Comes Alive with Echoes in Time Theatre
Ohio Historical Center presents "William H. McGuffey and the Peerless Pioneer Reader"
(COLUMBUS, OH July 10, 2008) – Echoes in Time Theatre at the Ohio Historical Center presents "William H. McGuffey and the Peerless Pioneer Reader" Aug. 28, Sept. 4, 11, 18 and 25.
William Holmes McGuffey was a professor and college president who is best known for writing the McGuffey Readers, one of the nation's first and most widely used series of textbooks. It is estimated that at least 120 million copies of McGuffey Readers were sold between 1836 and 1960, placing its sales in a category with the Bible and Webster's Dictionary.
Enter into a conversation with Mr. McGuffey as he talks about love of teaching, children and the writing of his books. Bill Welsh of Worthington portrays McGuffey.
The 30-minute, solo performance takes place each evening at 7 and 8 p.m. Admission to the Ohio Historical Center is $8/adults, $4/students and free for OHS members and children 5 years old and under.
