Campus Martius and the Ohio River Museum Host Fun Fridays For Kids
(MARIETTA, Ohio) –Summer vacation is barely two weeks old. Are your children looking for something to do?
Friday at the Museum may be the answer. They will have fun while learning in ideal historical settings; Campus Martius and the Ohio River Museum. Starting Friday, June 26 children will weave a wall hanging and learn to cross stitch or crochet, just like the pioneers did. On July 17, our theme will be Native Americans and we will learn flint knapping to make arrow heads, throw atlatls, use pump drills, and much more. On July 24, we will cook outdoors and get to eat what we make. Finally, July 31 will include a walking tour of Marietta to examine and learn about historic sites in town that we see everyday, ending with a tour of the Fearing House.
Each of the programs will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. The fee is $15 per child for each Friday they attend and includes snack and materials. Please call 740.373.3750 to register. You may attend all four days or pick the days you want to attend. Friday at the Museum is open to children in grades 3-5. (Children entering third grade up to those leaving fifth grade are welcome to attend.)
Campus Martius is located at 601 Second Street in Marietta (corner of Washington and Second Streets). For more information about programs at Campus Martius or the Ohio River Museum, please call 740.373.3750 or toll-free 800.860.0145, or e-mail cmmoriv@ohiohistory.org.
