For Immediate Release
Book Fair to Benefit Ohio Historical Society
Barnes & Noble Sponsoring Event
(Columbus, Ohio) – Starting on May 29 and running through May 31 at all locations across the city, state, and country, Barnes & Noble book stores will be holding a book fair to benefit the Ohio Historical Society and all its sites during its "Discover Ohio" promotion.
For customers who make purchases on any of these three days and present a voucher at the time of purchase, a portion of sales will be donated to the Ohio Historical Society. Barnes & Noble will donate 10 percent for up to $2,000 in sales; 15 percent for $2,000-$10,000 in sales and 20 percent for sales over $10,000. Vouchers are available online in Acrobat PDF format at www.ohiohistory.org/about/pdf/bn-voucher.pdf. (260KB PDF will load in a new browser window and requires Adobe Acrobat ® Reader).
There will also be costumed interpreters from the Ohio Historical Center on location at stores in Pickerington, Easton Town Center, Polaris Fashion Place and Lennox Town Center. The interpreters will be there as a friendly reminder to customers that a percentage of purchases can go towards benefiting the Ohio Historical Society and its sites. One of the characters will be played by Ohio Historical Society Director of Marketing, Mark Holbrook.
"It's a lot of fun to be able to get out and play the role of Civil War photographer Matthew Brady while doing something that I think will definitely help out OHS," said Holbrook. "It would be spectacular if we could get large turnouts across the city, state, or even the entire country. Every bit helps."
Along with the interpreters, there will also be OHS staff and volunteers to help with any questions customers may have about the promotion or the historical society and its sites. As always, Barnes & Noble staff members will be there to answer questions as well.
Barnes & Noble has stores throughout the greater Columbus area as well as locations in Youngstown, Dayton, Cincinnati, Maumee, Akron and Canton. There are also stores in many states across the country and purchases at these locations can also go towards the Ohio Historical Society.
The event, from May 29-31, will occur at every store in the city, state and country. Remember, however, that a voucher, available online at www.ohiohistory.org or Columbus Barnes & Noble stores, must be presented at the time of purchase for a percentage of that transaction to benefit the Ohio Historical Society.
The Ohio Historical Society is a nonprofit organization that serves as the state’s partner in preserving and interpreting Ohio’s history, natural history, archaeology and architecture
