Echoes in Time Theatre, Muffins Base Ball Highlight Spring Weekend
Ohio Historical Center, Ohio Village Offer Programs April 18-19
(COLUMBUS, Ohio) - The Ohio Historical Society will present a series of historical dramas during the Echoes in Time Theatre Showcase April 18 at the Ohio Historical Center and celebrate the 70th anniversary of kids in base ball the next day, April 19, with Let's Play Ball! at the Ohio Village. Both events are free with admission to the Ohio Historical Center.
Day-Long Event Features Seven Performances
The 30-minute presentations from the Echoes in Time Theatre series highlight characters from Ohio and American history, including Civil War photographer Matthew Brady, an Irish immigrant in the early 19th century, educator and author William McGuffey, a World War II soldier and his wife, one of the Tuskegee Airmen and a personal friend to President and Mrs. Harding. The seven solo and duet performances begin on the hour starting at 10 a.m. and continue through the day with the last show starting at 4 p.m.

his story of leaving Ireland with his young bride. Learn about their journey across

Join Civil War photographer Matthew Brady, portrayed by Mark Holbrook, as he talks
about his work on the battlefield and in the studio.

Join William Holmes McGuffey, portrayed by Bill Welsh, as he talks about his life
as a professor, college president and author of the McGuffey Readers.

- "Courage in the Skies: The Story of the Tuskegee Airmen"

Anthony Gibbs portrays a young airman from this famous squadron tell the story of
pilots who overcame segregation and prejudice to become one of the most highly respected
fighter groups of World War II and pave the way for full integration of the U.S.
military.

During the holidays, nothing is more poignant than home and family. Listen in as
our World War II soldier and his wife exchange letters carrying messages of hope,
fear, love and wishes across the Atlantic during the holidays. Cynthia Vilardo and
Mark Holbrook perform the roles of Mary and David Jacobs.

The year is 1923, and you are invited to meet Mrs. Oscar E. Bland, wife of Judge
Bland and friend of First Lady Florence Harding. Mrs. Bland, portrayed by Betty
Menear, shares her joys and concerns about President and Mrs. Harding.

Vintage Base Ball Event Celebrates 70th Anniversary of Little League
For those who want to enjoy the outdoors, the Ohio Village Muffins vintage base-ball team will host Let's Play Ball! April 19 in Ohio Village from 12:30, 2 and 3:30 p.m. The Muffins will take on the Canal Fulton Mules and Mansfield Independents in a triple header to celebrate kids in base ball.
The event, set in 1939, will honor the 70th anniversary of Little League. Visitors wearing a base ball uniform or who bring gently used baseball equipment for donating to community groups get $1 off regular admission. Seating is limited and visitors are encouraged to bring a chair and a blanket for this exciting afternoon of base ball fun!
