Buckeye Blast Features Former OSU Athletes To Celebrate Smithsonian Sports Exhibit
Columbus, Ohio. – Buckeye sports fans will want to gather at the Ohio Historical Center in Columbus on Saturday, April 14 for Buckeye Blast, a sports-themed party held in conjunction with the exhibit Sports: Breaking Records Breaking Barriers, on display from the Smithsonian.
The event will be held from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. at the Ohio Historical Center, I-71 & 17th Avenue in Columbus.
This one-of-a-kind event features former OSU football players for a meet-and-greet autograph session, rare sports memorabilia on display in a silent auction and special raffles that include a Troy Smith-inspired laptop computer and an autographed OSU football.
The OSU Alumni Marching Band ensemble Buckeye Brass will provide the musical backdrop as Buckeye sports fans interact with the athletes. Visitors will receive a special 8 x 10 commemorative sports print to be autographed by the athletes in attendance. Additional photographs for autographs will be available for purchase.
On exhibit through April 22 is Sports: Breaking Records Breaking Barriers from the Smithsonian, telling the stories of the pioneering athletes who dominated their sports; championed their country, race or sex; and helped others to achieve. These history-making athletes include Jackie Robinson, Sandy Koufax, Lance Armstrong, Billie Jean King, Babe Ruth, Jim Brown, Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan, just to name a few. Each story is accompanied by authentic items associated with the athlete and is a must-see.
Tickets for the Buckeye Blast are $20 (OHS members admitted for $15) and include admission to the museum exhibits, commemorative sports print for autographs, light refreshments, entertainment and other activities, including participation in the sports raffles and silent auction items.
