Hayes Presidential Center welcomes Diane Hawk to its Board of Trustees

Diane Hawk, OHS photo (FREMONT) - The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center Board of Trustees is pleased to welcome Diane L. Hawk as its newest member. Hawk joins the Board's 14 other members in helping establish policies and future direction for the Hayes Presidential Center, a multi-faceted facility dedicated to our nation's 19th President Rutherford B. Hayes. Hawk replaces James A. Hoffman, who left the Board due to job reassignment.

"It is an honor to be asked to join the Hayes Presidential Center Board of Trustees. I am really excited to be part of such an organization," Hawk said. "What we have here in our backyard in Fremont, and what it has done for the community is so important. The Hayes Presidential Center is keeping history alive!"

Hawk is co-owner of Crown Battery. She is an active and generous community supporter. In addition to serving as President-elect of the Fremont Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, she is a past president of the Lutz Elementary School PTO and American Cancer Society and continues to serve on the boards of both organizations. She has lent her energy and talents to the Memorial Hospital Charity Ball and the Memorial Hospital Health Committee.

A long-time supporter of the Hayes Presidential Center, Hawk helped organize the 2008 Celebrating Presidential Memories event that for the first time brought together descendants of Rutherford and Lucy Hayes. The celebration included two days of special programming, including a performance by a U.S. Marine Band quintet. She and husband Hal Hawk Jr. have financially supported numerous special events at the Center. Through their business Crown Battery, the couple generously provided funding for the 2008 Independence Day Concert and will serve as title sponsor the 2009 event.

"In the person of Diane Hawk, the Hayes Presidential Center Board of Trustees has acquired an incredible asset. Her seemingly limitless energy and take-charge attitude have contributed immeasurably to the success of past projects and are certain to enhance the future direction of the Hayes Presidential Center," said Board President Stephen A. Hayes, great-great-grandson of President Hayes. Hawk is a native of Port Clinton. She and Hal have two daughters, Megan and Morgan. The family resides in Fremont. The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center is located at the corner of Hayes and Buckland avenues, Fremont, Ohio. The facility is affiliated with the Ohio Historical Society. Check the Hayes Presidential Center website www.rbhayes.org for a complete list of year-round special events.
