Tiny leaves tell what future holds for 'Victorian Tea' attendees
(FREMONT, OHIO) – Spend an afternoon in the Victorian Era relaxing with friends, sipping tea and learning what the future holds. The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center hosts its first Victorian Tea of the 2009 season 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, April 1. The historic Dillon House is the setting for this enchanting event. Cost is $20 per person. Advance reservation is required.
Owned by the Hayes Presidential Center, the Dillon House was built in 1873 and retains its original interiors. Tea guests are seated at linen-covered tables scattered throughout the parlor, dining room, and music room of the house. Thomas Hoffert provides background music, performing on the home's vintage square Steinway piano. Costumed wait staff serve tea sandwiches, tea, and desserts.
Featured entertainer Retha Martin performs individual tea leaf readings at tableside for each guest. When not prognosticating future events, Martin practices behavioral hypnotherapy. She specializes in working with children and is founder of the Retha J. Martin School of Hypnotherapy and North Coast Hypnosis Society.
