Groundskeeper I
Summary:
Maintenance of the site, its grounds and the equipment used thereon.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mowing, picking up litter and leaves, watering, applying fertilizer and weed killers, trimming, pruning, removal of trees and shrubs, planting trees and shrubs.
- Operate mowing equipment, tractors, trucks and other equipment used in operation of the site.
- Perform routine custodial work such as painting, window washing, minor building repair, such as hinges, latches, faucet washer replacement, etc., and other related duties as required by the area manager/supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent in training or education. Previous experience in buildings and grounds maintenance work helpful but not required.
Language Skills:
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions oral, written, picture or schedule forms.
Technical Skills:
The ability to use tools and equipment as may be required for the job.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to develop and carry out own work schedule while maintaining the high quality of grounds maintenance necessary for the site location.
Physical Demands:
Requires frequent bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling and walking. Requires lifting up to 100 pounds. Requires full range of eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate tools, engine-powered equipment and electrical machines. Requires exposure to chemicals and toxic substances. Requires working outdoors in all types of conditions. Requires normal eyesight and hearing to qualify for a certified driver's license and to operate heavy equipment.
Work Environment:
Works outside in all weather conditions. Frequent exposure to dust, dirt, water, and wet working areas. Frequent exposure to chemicals and noxious fumes and odors. Occasional need to work evenings and weekends. Day travel may be required 30% of the time. Over night lodging minimal.
