Robert Lucas


Robert W. Lucas is former (retired) president of United Way of Greater Toledo and former president and CEO of DeNovo, Inc. From 1971 - 1999, he was a senior executive with Huntington National Bank, including president & CEO of Huntington Mortgage Company and The Huntington Leasing Company in Columbus and Huntington National Bank of Northwest Ohio. Prior to his career in business, Lucas served in the U.S. Army Special Forces Airborne (Reserve) for 29 years and is a graduate of the Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss, TX, and retired with the rank of command sergeant major.

Lucas previously served as a member and as chairman of the Ohio History Connection Development Board and as trustee and treasurer of the Ohio Historical Foundation. His leadership roles in the Columbus and Toledo communities includes trustee of the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute Foundation; chair of the 1989 United Way campaign and 1992 chair of the board of trustees; chair of the NW Ohio American Heart Association Heart Walk in 1992; trustee of the Toledo Symphony; member of the boards of Junior Achievement of Northwestern Ohio, the Lucas County Improvement Corporation, and St. Vincent Medical Center and its Foundation. He is a member of the Maumee Valley Heritage Corridor, Toledo Rotary and the Memorial Chapter 45 of the Special Forces Association.

Lucas earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Capital University and a graduate degree at Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He and his wife Karen reside in Pemberville, Ohio.
