Rich Simpson is dean of Capital University Law School in Columbus, having served in that position since June 2010. Before joining Capital, he was an attorney in private practice at Bricker & Eckler LLP, where he served for 10 years as managing partner and chair of the executive committee. A former chair of the firm’s bond department, his law practice focused on municipal bonds with an emphasis on general obligation and utility revenue bond and note financings for municipalities, school districts and other political subdivisions. He also provided general corporate representation.
Rich has served as bond counsel for hundreds of bond financings around Ohio and was a frequent lecturer on bond-related topics for the Ohio Municipal League, Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association, Buckeye Association of School Administrators, Ohio School Boards Association, and other organizations.
A former member of the Ohio Business Roundtable, Rich is a member and past president of the Upper Arlington Rotary Club, a past president of the Athletic Club of Columbus, and serves on the Commission on the Ohio Judicial Center and on the board of the Ohio Lawyers Assistance Program. He is a member of the American, Ohio State, and Columbus bar associations and has chaired the board of Columbus Bar Services. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America and Ohio Super Lawyers.
Rich served as chair of the Ohio Historical Society’s Development Board from 2004-2006. He has served on the Ohio Historical Society board for the past five years and currently serves as secretary. Rich lives in Upper Arlington.
