Beverly A. Martin

Now director of marketing and public relations for Habitat for Humanity – Greater Columbus, Beverly Martin 
operated a marketing and public relations consulting business from 2007-2011. Before opening her business, she was senior vice president of a government relations and public affairs firm.
 
Martin served 11 years in state government. As deputy chief of staff for Gov. Bob Taft, she was responsible for operations of the governor’s office, served as policy advisor for the Ohio Department of Administrative Services and Ohio Lottery; oversaw the offices of Constituent Services, Veterans Affairs, Minority Affairs, and Multicultural Affairs; led the governor’s OhioReads initiative for elementary school children; and was point person for the Ohio Bicentennial Commission and State Commemorative Quarter Committee.
 
Before serving in the governor’s office, Martin was deputy director for special projects for the secretary of state, overseeing voter-registration and -education initiatives. Later, as deputy secretary of state, she oversaw the divisions of elections, communications, and campaign finance. During the transition to the governor’s office, she was executive director of the Taft-O’Connor Inauguration Committee.
 

A past president of the nonprofit New Directions Career Center, she has also served on the board of Columbus Speech & Hearing Center and on the Ohio Lottery Commission. She and her husband, Dan, live in Hilliard. They have two children.
